Welcome to the Underground Functional Fitness Newsletter
“I want to lose weight and tone up ...and I’ll do anything.”
A big proportion of fitness regimes start off with this lie.
Also, 90% of all gym users don’t achieve the results they want.
Part of the reason for the consequent failures is that people are so badly informed by the media and they don't have a clue what to do. The people that say this lie don’t really want to improve their body composition and don’t really believe they can. They normally follow this sentence with comments like “but I don’t want to become a loser and never go out” or “but I can’t stop having my chocolate bars because they make me feel better.”
Really?
How is feeling bloated and fat all the time feeling better? Chocolate is a very short-term solution to underlying psychological weaknesses.
If you really want to be able to walk around knowing that everyone else is envious of your curves or well-toned body, you won’t need to lie. You will really mean it when you say you will do anything. Why pay a top fitness professional for advice when you’re going to carry on as normal? The coaches at Underground Functional Fitness would rather earn less money than work with people who don’t actually want to do anything about their weight problem!
The best clients are those who have the commitment and are willing to give up certain things that they think they can’t do without. It’s great to watch these people get better physiques and consequently their self-esteem and satisfaction with life sky-rockets!
Your lifestyle may be in such a bad state that the Underground Functional Fitness programs are quite simply a life saver. If you’re not willing to change anything, how do you expect Underground Functional Fitness let alone the lesser quality trainers to help? Unfortunately, moving your mouse to go on to the next page just isn’t going to burn enough calories.

So often in people’s testimonials you hear about how much weight they lost or how many pant sizes they dropped. You won’t hear that from Shawn Wenzel. While his photos definitely show an amazing transformation, Shawn’s focus was more on his family. “I feel Aaron and Underground Functional Fitness have given my family their husband and father back,” says Shawn.
As luck would have it, Shawn was paired up with Aaron at another fitness facility and followed him here to Underground Functional Fitness. “His dedication and commitment to me keeps me motivated to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle,” says Shawn. Before training with Aaron, Shawn never had any type of formal exercise training. He feels that Underground is the key to achieving his fitness goals. “The business has an excellent concept: Get to the point, work hard, and your goals will be achieved.” That is exactly what happened for Shawn -- he lost more than 70 pounds and dropped 4 pant sizes. And from that loss, he gained even more: “Before training with Aaron, and being 70 pounds overweight, I was always sore, tired, lazy, and couldn't even play catch with my kids. I had debilitating back pain that affected all aspects of my life. I had no ambition and didn't want to do anything. Today I am a changed man. My back pain is completely gone, I am able to keep up with my kids, and I have more drive and self-esteem. Aaron and Underground saw my potential and helped me reach my goals, and for that I'm extremely grateful,” says Shawn.
After seeing Shawn's results and watching him go through his experience, Shawn's wife Amy decided to join Underground Functional Fitness as well. The two of them have three children: Collin 9, Janie 8, and Tyler 6. Shawn has worked in the window business for 15 years and owns and operates Wenzel Home Improvements. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and golfing. His goal is to maintain an active lifestyle in order to set a good example for his children. There is no movement or workout that our adult clients do that the kids cannot
do as well. Therefore, our Kids Boot Camp follows the same programming and
philosophies as everything else at Underground Functional Fitness.Any parent who wants their child to grow up
healthy, strong, and have a lifelong love for fitness should not miss Kids Boot
Camp.Our specialty is not
specializing.Functional exercises
replicate functional movement; which means healthy living requires our kids to
push, pull, throw, run, lift, jump, and climb. Our kids should not only do them effectively but safely as well. Our
program can be applied to all ages regardless of their experience. We’ve trained all ages from 5 year olds to
elite athletes.All ages receive the
same training -- the only difference may be the weight or intensity. Our goal at Underground Functional Fitness is
to educate children and teens about functional fitness and prepare them for a
journey of wellness. Not only will they
develop into fit individuals, they will learn to take responsibility for their
health and enjoy freedom of movement.
Our Kids Boot Camp program is based on the protocols established within the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association's position statement on youth exercise, which was completed with the cooperation from the following authorities:

Inspiration from a Client
Graffiti
Tkty. Clunk. Tkty. Clunk. Tkty.Clunk. Tkty. The children and I listened to the rapid, deep, monotonous tone of the train wheels along the train track, watching it speed along side of our car, as we headed to school this morning.
“Mom? Do bad, troubled people write all that stuff on the cars of the train?” my ten year old son asked. We talked about graffiti for a bit and how graffiti is usually not good. It is commonly associated with people vandalizing, destroying or not respecting other people’s property.
Since then, visions of graffiti have clicked through my mind all day. I think we all have graffiti in our lives. Like the train cars, our hearts have been spray painted with messages by people who are troubled themselves. We travel through life past different scenery - over mountains of hope, in to valleys of despair, across the plains of apathy, over bridges of desire and through forests of confusion. We carry on through different seasons, in all sorts of weather, wearing this graffiti. Our hearts have been vandalized by words that we have heard, going with us wherever we go, and these words have stuck.
We are damaged with messages like, you are not a priority. You are not valued. You are stupid. You are too slow. You are not smart enough. You are ugly. Your feet are too big. Your nose is crooked. Your family is poor. Your hair is funny. You don’t have anything to offer. You are a looser. You are not gifted. You are not worth my time. You are different. You are not special. You are not worth loving.
The truth is, however, that the valuable cargo that the train carries is not at all determined by what is said by the graffiti on the outside of the car. And so it is with us, dear reader. We have these messages – these lies – put upon us either by the words or actions of others that are not true and they do not define who we are. They do not reflect who we are. They are ugly marks of graffiti.
Who we are inside is what matters. Sometimes we forget and believe the lies that others have placed upon us, but God does not forget. God knows who we are. He made us. He loves us, with an everlasting, never-stopping, always seeking, never-abandoning love. We are a priority to God. He has a plan for our lives and lovely things for us. He wants us to believe what He says about us, not what others say. We are valuable to Him. We are His treasured possession (Deuteronomy 7:6).
Take time today and ask the Lord to help you face the graffiti that is written on your heart and ask Him to show you who you really are. God knows the precious cargo that you are, He created you, and He desires to write new words of truth on your heart. There are those who may vandalize and disrespect you, but God wants to revitalize you. Listen to Him, dearest reader, and believe in His tender love for you.

Huntington's Disease (HD) is an inherited, progressively degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of both mental faculties and physical control. Symptoms usually appear in an individual between 30 to 50 years old. By 2015, 1 in 5 Americans will be affected by neurodegenerative disease. HD is the only one with a single cause: a mutated huntingtin gene. Therefore, research into HD will benefit eventual treatment of HD and all other neurodegenerative diseases.
