Sarah Brown, MBA, Series 7 & 66
General Manager
Sarah Brown manages business operations, handling all financial matters, taxes, and employee reporting. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and two Bachelor’s degrees, Business Administration and Marketing.
Sarah maintains a very active lifestyle and is a former nationally-ranked bodybuilder. She has a true appreciation for the hard work the clients at Underground Functional Fitness put into their training. Sarah enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her husband and their four kids. Sarah has a strong passion for philanthropy and you will often find her donating her time or resources, particularly for raising awareness against child sexual abuse.
Brent Miller, B.S., C.S.C.S.
Fitness Coach
Brent Miller hold’s a Bachelor’s degree in Fitness Studies from Lakeland College and is working towards his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification. Brent first met Coach Brown when he gave a talk at a summer school program at Menasha High School. He says he was immediately intrigued by Coach Brown’s philosophies and styles of teaching. “After hearing him talk, I knew I wanted to work for him,” says Brent..
Fitness and athletics play a big role in Brent’s life. He played football in high school and college. His favorite thing about working in the fitness industry is that there is never a routine. He believes in Underground Functional Fitness’s philosophy in that no workout is and ever should be the same. “I love working with people and helping them reach their goals and make lifestyle changes,” says Brent. “I am anxious to share my knowledge with clients and to grow as a trainer at Underground.”
Amanda Wilfer B.S., C.S.C.S.
Fitness Coach
Amanda holds a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Sport Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, with an emphasis in Sport Management, and is working towards her prestigious Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (National Strength and Conditioning Association). For two seasons Amanda worked in the front office for the Milwaukee Bucks and most recently as a personal trainer in the Fox Valley.
Amanda was a three-sport athlete in high school and began powerlifting in college in 2005 (ranked in the top 10 in the nation). She started training and competing in Strongman in 2006, achieving Strongwoman National Champion that same year. It was while at a local Strongman competition in 2007 that Amanda met Coach Brown. “I was immediately drawn to his passion of fitness, strength sports, and helping people succeed,” says Amanda.
Amanda is on a constant journey of improvement. She has proudly lost 60 pounds and continues to lose fat and gain muscle. Amanda is actively involved in Strongman and intends to compete in future powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting events. As a coach at Underground Functional Fitness, she loves helping people to believe in themselves and to see that with hard work and dedication, their goals can and will be met.
Becca Kandler, B.A., ACSM-CPT
Assistant Coach
Becca has been a group fitness instructor in the Fox Valley for nearly five years and holds several group fitness certifications. After years of chronic knee pain and failed surgeries, Becca decided to train with Coach Brown. Having worked alongside him, she’d seen what he could do. “He made modifications to my training and he had a plan to increase strength and help with my rehabilitation.” Becca said she wanted to feel good, and that’s exactly what happened by training with Coach Brown. As a result of this training, she lost 15 pounds and significantly improved her strength and mobility.
Becca has experience teaching water exercise, step, strength and resistance, and other popular group fitness classes. Becca is working towards her American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM) personal trainer certification and her Master’s in Sport/Exercise Psychology.
Ashley Calhoun
Business Operations Associate
Walk into Underground Functional Fitness and the first face you’ll see is Ashley Calhoun. Ashley is a great go-to person for any current or potential clients wanting to learn more about Underground Functional Fitness.
Prior to joining Underground Functional Fitness, Ashley was a cosmetic line manager at Macy’s. “I love the atmosphere here at Underground. When I was helping people in cosmetics, it was all on the surface. Now I’m helping people truly change," says Ashley.
Ashley played Division 1 collegiate volleyball and loves the intensity of the workouts at Underground. As an ovarian cancer survivor, she has a great appreciation for the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Ashley had a 16-pound tumor removed and has been cancer free since November 2004.
