WRITTEN RESULTS

As the parents of 2 teenage boys who participate in basketball, football, and baseball we felt it was necessary for them to participate in a program that would not only strengthen and condition their bodies for the demands of the game but also help reduce the possibility of injury. Weight lifting and agility programs were available through some schools and community organizations but we found them to be poorly run with little oversight and attention to technique with a “one size fits all” approach. Consequently the results were minimal without any way to measure improvement.

About a year ago out boys started attending the sports performance program run by Dave Brown at the fitness center. Dave developed a weight lifting and conditioning program specifically tailored to the individual, the sport and even the position they play in that sport. Speed, strength, and agility testing has been done on a regular basis to provide tangible measurable results. Dave is constantly making adjustments to their programs depending on whether it is preseason or in season to again maximize the personal performance. In addition to the physical program Dave provides invaluable information on nutrition, hydration, work ethic and an expectation of personal integrity and accountability in everything they do.

The sports performance program under Dave Brown’s direction has measurably improved our kid’s strength, power, performance, abilities, condition and health, and should be a part of any athletes program who desires to improve their game.

When I met Dave, I had been competing as a power-lifter for six years. I held the 14th best dead lift in the country and had won numerous first place trophies in competition. I thought my previous coach had taken me about as far as my potential would go. Boy was I wrong! Within three months of training with Dave, I had put 25 lbs. on my power-lifting total, which is completely unheard of. I was completely blown away by his training methods and knowledge of what the human body is capable of. The best thing about Dave is that he believed in my capabilities and me. His belief helped me believe in myself. Dave doesn’t keep the knowledge to himself: he passes it on to those he coaches and enables them to accomplish their dreams.

While instructing for the Rio Salado College Law Enforcement Technology program, Dave Brown was instrumental in bringing functional training to our law enforcement fitness instructor course.  Our 40-hour course focuses on overall wellness and health for the law enforcement officer; however, Dave has shown the essential job functions equate to the rigors of a well-trained athlete.  Dave’s approach to functional training in law enforcement is relevant and applicable to the daily job tasks.  Dave is knowledgeable and credible in the subject matter.  He teaches in a fashion which is easy to understand and he makes it fun!
